I had heard a lot about the Slim Rom back in the kitkat days and then now I had the chance to test it on my device which is the Redmi Note 4 also known as mido. In this post I would be covering my experience and the list of features the Slim Rom has to offer and spoiler alert its amazing.
Customization:
Let's start off with the customization in this rom and oh boy the slim rom has just 2 options in customization section in settings app. Those include interface and navigation. After opening the interface section you would be greeted with statusbar and recent apps panel. In statusbar you get the choice to choose preferred battery icon and battery percentage like lineage OS. In recent apps panel you get to choose between the slim recent and stock aosp recent panel and my favorite among both is slim recent.
Let's move ahead and check out the navigation section. Over here you have the hardware button customization such as double tap, long press and normal press actions and also you get to enable or disable the hardware keys and turn on the navigation bar.
Moving ahead let's cover the performance of the rom.
Performance:
During my usage the performance is great there is no UI lag and animations are smooth. Gaming performance is also great and since this rom has minimal customization the stability is great.
Performance is same like all the other nougat based roms.
Battery Life:
Battery life on this rom surprised me I never thought that a stock kernel can provide insanely great battery backup without any performance loss. I am totally satisfied with battery backup of the slim rom. On the first day of usage I got around 11 hours of SOT which is insane but I forget to take screenshot (My bad).
Conclusion:
If you need a stable rom with minimal customiaztion features then Slim Rom is a great choice.
